Historical context

Rijksmuseum produced this hand-colored lithograph in 1889. The piece is held by Wikimedia Commons (institutional source) and is in the public domain under CC0 — Public Domain Dedication; we sourced the file from the institution’s open-access program and prepared it for archival printing.

On the category. European travel and genre artists between 1820 and 1910 produced the most detailed visual record of the coffeehouses of the Ottoman, North African, and European cities they passed through. We include this work because the visual document is real; the framing belongs to its century.

The master file is 5028 × 4266 pixels. At 300 DPI it prints clean at approximately 16 inches on the long edge before any visible loss; below that scale all three included print sizes hold cleanly.
