Underlying works

The underlying works in this archive are in the public domain or released under permissive open licenses (most commonly CC BY 4.0 for Wellcome Collection material). We do not claim copyright on the underlying images. The artist, year, holding institution, and original license are listed on every piece’s detail page and are reproduced in the source statement shipped with the file.

What we sell

We sell the labor of restoration, print preparation, catalog framing, and historical annotation. This is what the $19 covers.

What you may do with a purchased file

• Print it for personal use — your home, your office, your studio.
• Print it for commercial display — your café, your roastery, your restaurant, your hotel lobby. There is no per-location fee.
• Print multiple copies for the same location (a café chain with five branches can print the same piece five times under a single purchase).

What you may not do

• Resell or redistribute the digital file itself.
• Upload it to a print-on-demand service (Society6, Redbubble, Zazzle, etc.) for resale.
• Claim authorship of the underlying work or of the restoration.
• Remove the source-statement metadata embedded in the delivered file.

Attribution where required

For pieces sourced from Wellcome Collection (CC BY 4.0), the attribution line “Wellcome Collection. Source: wellcomecollection.org” is preserved in the file metadata and on the printed source statement. If you reproduce the image in a publication, retain this credit line.
